Studio Montclair's ART LOTTO 2018

September 25, 2018

Earlier this year, I decided to participate in Studio Montclair’s Art Lotto exhibit. Each artist was randomly assigned another artist as their portrait subject, but they were not paired with each other. The experience invited connection and, to some degree, a collaboration, as artist pairs were invited to meet beforehand to share their own work, background, styles, and sensibilities.

Artists, Beware of Art Scammers

September 19, 2018

Recently, I received two separate email submissions sent from my web site’s contact form. Both were enthusiastic about my art stated the senders wanted to buy a piece quickly as gifts for their wives. They weren’t interested in a specific piece, but stated “I love it all” and other general compliments. The wording of both emails sounded a little strange, and a little bit of online research confirmed my suspicions and avoided a lot of grief and wasted time.

RIP - Ursula Le Guin

February 01, 2018

"The artist deals in what cannot be said in words. The artist whose medium is fiction does this in words. The novelist says in words what cannot be said in words."

Two Exceptional Exhibitions

April 18, 2017

It's always a pleasure to spend an evening viewing artwork, but even more so when the art is of outstanding quality and created by someone you are fortunate enough to call a friend. I recently attended two wonderful openings: one in NYC exhibiting work by an old friend and the other in New Jersey featuring a series by an artist I had only previously communicated with via Facebook.

The Sound of All Things Named a Notable Book for a Global Society + Other Honors

January 23, 2017

I was highly honored to learn that The Sound of All Things was named one of the winners in the 2017 list of Notable Books for a Global Society. It was gratifying to learn folks are responding positively to this labor-of-love of mine and author Myron Uhlberg.

Sally And I Visit The Mo-seum!

September 20, 2016

For my daughter Sally's first big trip into NYC on a train, we headed off to the Mo Willems exhibit at the New York Historical Society. You may be familiar with Mo through some of his most popular books, such as Knuffle Bunny, Don't Let The Pigeon Drive The Bus, The Naked Mole Rat Gets Dressed, and the Elephant and Piggie series. Since the Museum of Natural History is right next door, we had to see some dinosaurs too!
